Google has introduced Antigravity, a novel development environment designed to champion an "agent-first future" for coding. Launched concurrently with Gemini 3 Pro, this innovative tool harnesses the power of Gemini 3 Pro alongside other third-party models, empowering multiple AI agents with direct access to coding tools like the editor, terminal, and browser.
Transparent Work Verification with Artifacts
A core differentiator for Antigravity lies in its unique method of reporting and verifying its progress. As the system carries out tasks, it generates what Google terms "Artifacts." These include comprehensive task lists, strategic plans, visual screenshots, and precise browser recordings. The primary goal of these Artifacts is to offer clear evidence of both completed work and planned future actions. While Antigravity also logs its internal operations and external tool interactions, Google emphasizes that Artifacts provide a more user-friendly and verifiable overview compared to exhaustive lists of a model's every action or tool invocation.
Dual Perspectives: Editor and Manager Views
Antigravity introduces a significant evolution in its user interface by offering two distinct operational views. The defaultEditor viewdelivers a familiar Integrated Development Environment (IDE) experience, reminiscent of platforms like Cursor and GitHub Copilot, where an AI agent assists from a dedicated side panel. In contrast, the innovativeManager viewis tailored for orchestrating multiple agents simultaneously, enabling them to operate with greater autonomy. Google likens this view to a "mission control" hub, where users can spawn, direct, and oversee numerous agents across various workspaces in parallel.
Enhanced Feedback Mechanisms and Continuous Learning
The platform also refines how users can interact with and guide AI agents. It now allows for feedback to be left directly on specific Artifacts, which agents can incorporate without disrupting their ongoing work. Furthermore, agents operating within Antigravity are designed to "learn from past work." This capability enables them to retain and apply particular code snippets or the sequential steps required to accomplish certain tasks, fostering continuous improvement.
Availability and Flexible Usage
Antigravity is currently accessible in a public preview, offering compatibility across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. The tool is free to use, featuring what Google describes as "generous rate limits" for its integration with Gemini 3 Pro. These limits refresh every five hours, with Google anticipating that only a very small percentage of power users will ever reach them. Beyond Gemini 3 Pro, Antigravity also supports other leading language models such as Claude Sonnet 4.5 and OpenAI’s GPT-OSS.
