Securiti AI, a technology company established by Pakistani entrepreneur Rehan Jalil, has been acquired by the data resilience specialist Veeam in a transaction valued at approximately $1.7 billion. This significant acquisition integrates Securiti’s data security and AI governance solutions into Veeam's existing product portfolio, representing a substantial achievement for a founder of Pakistani origin.
Securiti AI specializes in developing sophisticated tools that enable organizations to discover, safeguard, and manage data across diverse cloud environments and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. Their flagship offering, the Data Command Center, empowers clients to oversee privacy, governance, and security protocols for data utilized within artificial intelligence systems. According to Veeam, incorporating these advanced tools will enhance its capacity to protect enterprise data amidst the growing adoption of AI technologies.
As part of the acquisition terms, Rehan Jalil, who founded and served as CEO of Securiti, will assume a prominent position at Veeam as president of security and AI once the deal concludes. The financial arrangement for this transaction involves a combination of cash and stock and is anticipated to finalize later this year, pending customary regulatory approvals.
The increasing demand from businesses for solutions that ensure AI systems operate with appropriate data, uphold privacy standards, and comply with regulations is significantly driving up the valuation of companies offering such specialized services, like Securiti AI.
Within Pakistan's technology sector, this acquisition is celebrated as a major success, underscoring the expanding impact of Pakistani professionals and entrepreneurs in global tech hubs like Silicon Valley. Rehan Jalil brings extensive experience in cloud security, having established Securiti with the specific aim of addressing the secure utilization of data in the era of artificial intelligence.
Veeam has indicated its intention to continue marketing Securiti’s existing product line and plans to integrate Securiti’s core features related to privacy, governance, and AI trust into Veeam’s comprehensive backup and recovery solutions. Both companies assert that the merged product portfolio will empower customers to accelerate secure AI adoption while ensuring their data remains protected and readily recoverable.
