Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been entrusted with substantial duties by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as per insider reports.

Sarfaraz's new remit involves overseeing affairs concerning both the Pakistan Shaheens and the Under-19 national team. Reports indicate he will monitor the coaches' performance for these squads, coordinate their respective tours, and travel with the teams during training camps and matches hosted within Pakistan.

Bringing a wealth of experience to this position, the 38-year-old has an impressive international playing record. Across 54 Test matches, he amassed 3,031 runs, featuring four centuries and 21 half-centuries. In 117 One-Day Internationals, he scored 2,315 runs, including two hundreds and 11 fifties. His 61 T20 International appearances yielded 818 runs, with three fifties.

His tenure as captain was also marked by significant achievements. Sarfaraz famously captained Pakistan to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy, overcoming India by a substantial 180-run margin in the final. His leadership saw Pakistan achieve a 70% win rate in ODIs, a 62.5% success rate during the 2019 World Cup, and an impressive 78.37% win rate in T20Is, comprising 29 wins from 37 matches.

His most recent international appearance for Pakistan was in a Test match against Australia, held in Perth in 2023.
