In a significant move to streamline the transport sector, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar recently met with the Transporters’ Muttahida Action Committee (TMAC). During the high-level meeting, Dr. Anwar reiterated the police department's commitment to resolving long-standing challenges faced by transporters, including issues related to vehicle stands, route permits, toll taxes, and fitness certificates. These critical matters, he assured, would be addressed through close collaboration with the Transport Department and other relevant government authorities.

A central point of discussion revolved around improving security for freight vehicles. Dr. Anwar specifically pledged the prompt registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) concerning abductions of cargo vehicles and the theft of goods, offering a much-needed sense of security to the transporting community. Addressing concerns about unnecessary legal complications, Dr. Anwar provided a clear assurance: no legal action, challan, or FIR would be initiated against drivers or transporters who possess complete documentation and adhere to existing traffic regulations. This commitment aims to foster an environment of trust and reduce unwarranted harassment within the industry.

A follow-up meeting between Chairman Niazi and thePunjab IGP is set to review progresson these decisions, ensuring accountability and consistent action.
To ensure continuous support and rapid complaint resolution, the Punjab Police has established a dedicated focal person. This official will take immediate action on any grievances related to unjust challans, harassment, or corruption. The IGP emphasized that the Traffic Police would extend full cooperation to the transport industry, offering maximum support and assistance in resolving their operational challenges. This initiative underscores the police's dedication to creating a more efficient and secure environment for transporters across Punjab.
