Sweden Eager to Bolster Technology Cooperation with Pakistan
A BizTalk Report
Sweden has expressed a strong desire to bolster its collaboration with Pakistan across the technology sector, as stated by Swedish Ambassador Henrik Persson.
This sentiment was a key focus during a recent meeting in Islamabad, where Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, hosted a Swedish delegation spearheaded by Ambassador Persson. Discussions, according to a ministry handout, revolved around areas of mutual interest within Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
During the engagement, Minister Haque affirmed Pakistan's commitment to facilitate Swedish companies operating within its burgeoning IT and telecom landscape. Echoing this resolve, Ambassador Persson reiterated Sweden's eagerness for deeper technological collaboration and extended an invitation to Pakistani IT and telecom firms to host a promotional roadshow in Sweden.
The Swedish delegates further explored the transformative potential of technology in critical sectors like health and education. They highlighted artificial intelligence (AI) as a crucial tool for addressing global challenges, including climate change and food insecurity. The delegation also conveyed its satisfaction with the progress and projects initiated by the ministry.
Separately, the Embassy of Sweden in Pakistan confirmed that representatives from Swedish companies engaged in dialogues concerning the opportunities and hurdles presented by digital policies. They also put forth policy recommendations aimed at fostering improvements in business environments, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
Notable Swedish companies represented at the meeting included Ericsson, Talkpool, BIMA Pakistan, Need Insights, and Synavos.
